<p>Working with development staff, this intern will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at the vital area of non-profit fundraising. The Development and IT intern will get an essential introduction to activities including, but not limited to, donor database management, establishing and developing online marketing activities, composing donor correspondence, and the maintenance of donor and grant files.</p>
<p>The IT portion of the intern’s position will provide further insight into non-profit administration by giving exposure to the Agency’s IT activities, such as software and hardware installation and management. The intern will provide added support to IT Department to ensure efficiency and effectiveness for users in terms of IT troubleshooting. This portion of the position will also allow the intern to view our LAN/WAN System and interact with offsite staff.</p>
<p>This intern’s specific duties will include general administrative tasks in both development and IT departments, such as organization of donor records, digitizing the development department’s donor and grant files, helping to manage donor correspondence. IT specific tasks include software and hardware updates, computer and other hardware installation, data entry for agency wide mapping of resources and inventory and supporting staff in IT development.</p>
<p>This is a special position funded by a grant from Exxon Mobile. This position is classified as part-time, seasonal/summer, and is non-exempt. This position will pay $8.93 per hour for 35.0 hours per week, and will last for a period of 8 weeks June 1, 2012 with an ending date of August 31, 2012.</p>
<p>Must meet minimum requirements to be considered for a position as an Intern:</p>
<p>1.) Student is currently enrolled, full-time (minimum of 12 hours), undergraduate have completed at least freshman year.<br />
2.) Student will be returning to school in the fall of 2012 as a full-time freshman, sophomore, junior or senior.<br />

<p>Working with the I&amp;R Program Manager, this intern will have the unique opportunity to see how Family Service Agency’s 2-1-1 Helpline program and Family Resource Centers work to integrate all aspects of Information and Referral services both with other Agency programs as well as with other community organizations. With an Agency as diverse as Family Service Agency, with such a wide variety of quality programs, it will be a fantastic opportunity for the I&amp;R Intern to see how a non-profit organization’s various programs work together to affect local change. Working with the 2-1-1 Helpline will give the I&amp;R Intern a glimpse into the structure of an I &amp; R hotline, how to maintain and update a website and database, as well as training in basic office and editing skills.</p>
<p>This intern’s specific duties will primarily include helping the I&amp;R Program Manager to update the annual Online and Telephone Directory of more than 2,500 human service programs and agencies. This update will require the intern to research and report new information and listings in the County-wide Health and Human Resource Directory, as well as to edit the Directory through proof reading, fact checking and follow-up communications with other local service agencies.</p>

<p>Partners in Education is a business education partnership nonprofit. In the past four years Partners has built a strong community engagement model to support student and school success. More than 3,600 volunteers have been recruited with 40,000 hours served. We coordinate members of the business and broader community to meet specific requests for support at more than 50 schools and over a dozen nonprofits in South Santa Barbara County.</p>
<p>The position is an excellent opportunity to build connections and experience in a variety of fields including education, social service, nonprofits, philanthropy, community organizing and more. Individuals passionate about addressing systemic issues through civic engagement are encouraged to apply.</p>
<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES:<br />
• Recruitment and management of youth-serving ongoing and one-time volunteers.<br />
• Build relationships with volunteers and teachers by phone, email and in person to determine ideal placement.<br />
• Assist volunteers in navigating the screening process for entering a school.<br />
• Assist with training volunteers to be ready to serve in a classroom or non-profit organization.<br />
• Track volunteer commitments, contact information, non-profit and school requests, and completed volunteer hours in a database.<br />
• Follow up with volunteers and sites to evaluate volunteers and activities.<br />
• Present to community members/businesses and school staff to increase participation in volunteer recruitment program.<br />
• Design and maintain systems of recognition and thank you for volunteers.<br />
• Outreach via social media tools and online volunteer sign up sites.<br />
• Visit volunteers at school sites and coordinate school-based projects.</p>
<p>This is a full-time position through AmeriCorps, the domestic version of the US Peace Corps. This position begins August 16, 2012 and ends June 15, 2013 and requires a commitment to serve 45 hours per week during a 10 month term of service. AmeriCorps members receive a cash stipend of $600 twice monthly paid out over the term of service in equal stipend amounts. Members also receive a $5,550 education award contingent upon satisfactory completion of their term of service. Health insurance (medical, dental, prescription drug and vision allowance), childcare, and AD&amp;D are also provided. Student loan forbearance is available based on lender approval and the government will pay off the interest that accrues while you serve.</p>
